Join the Hub as an AmeriCorps VISTA!
For the second year, the Shawnee State University Kricker Innovation Hub is partnering with the Center on Rural Innovation (CORI) to host AmeriCorps VISTA members tasked with bringing inclusive digital jobs training and career placement support to low income rural residents in our region.
The AmeriCorps VISTA program is a national service program dedicated to the fight against poverty. Since 1965, over 220,000 VISTA members have built capacity for local organizations to uplift community members across all 50 states.
The Hub’s VISTA program offers an incredible opportunity to address the widening geographic divide in our country, work towards an equitable recovery from COVID-19, and contribute to programs and models that create sustainable economic opportunity. VISTA members will build capacity for and expand upon digital skilling programs, provide wrap-around supports to help participants thrive, and connect graduates with local career pathways and remote employment opportunities — all with an eye for identifying best practices to drive an inclusive tech culture.
The Hub and CORI are looking for VISTAs to be hosted at Shawnee State University in three potential roles: a Program Coordinator VISTA, Resource Development VISTA, and Community Outreach VISTA. More information on these positions can be found here.
VISTA volunteers enjoy a wide range of benefits, including a bi-weekly living allowance, no cost housing, relocation and settling allowance, childcare assistance, education awards or end of the year stipend, health coverage, training, and professional development. These positions are for a one year period beginning July 20, 2022 and ending July 20, 2023.
