SGC Announces Keynote Speakers

The 2023 Shawnee Game Conference (SGC) kicks off March 10th and 11th. As the longest running academic game conference in the Midwest, SGC strives to bring all facets of gaming together in one great weekend. Whether you are a gamer, programmer, developer, promoter, designer, educator, industry specialist, or simply someone who loves technology, SGC has something for you.

SGC is now pleased to announce two keynote speakers for the March conference: Timothy Rodabaugh and Jarryd Huntley!

Timothy is a software engineer with more than 20 years of experience working on various software systems for the US Department of Defense. Tim has spent the last 11 years working for the Air Force Research Laboratory in the Gaming Research Integration for Learning Laboratory (GRILL), serving as the lead engineer. The mission of GRILL is to leverage commercial off-the-shelf technologies, including gaming, and apply it to the military domain.

Tim’s keynote address, entitled “Using Game Technology for Military Modeling and Simulation”, will be held Friday, March 10th at 12:00PM at the VRCFA stage.

Jarryd is a lead performance engineer at Owlchemy Labs. He also plays important roles in Cleveland’s game development scene organizing the Cleveland Game Developer’s community, running workshops, and teaching classes. Jarryd was the lead programmer on ‘We are OFK’ and co-author of the 2017 book ‘Game Programming for Artists’. With talks at universities and conferences around the world, Jarryd brings a unique perspective by drawing on his experiences from both enterprise software engineering and his professional music career. His studio, Polytundra LLC, released their debut title ‘Art Club Challenge’ in 2018, which was featured in the 2017 Smithsonian American Art Museum Arcade.

Jarryd’s keynote address, entitled ‘Your Career - Charting Your Path Forward’, will be held Saturday, March 11th at 3:00PM at the VRCFA stage.
