LIGHTS Regional Innovation tours Hub renovation site
Last week, Nathaniel Berger and Amanda White of the LIGHTS Regional Innovation Network were given a tour of the Shawnee State University Kricker Innovation Hub’s building renovation located at 221 Chillicothe Street in Downtown Portsmouth.
The Lights Regional Innovation Network is a community and local business resource that assists individuals and companies in 26 Appalachian counties through product development, business coaching, and innovation gateways. Founded by the Ohio University Innovation Center and funded by the ARC (Appalachian Regional Commission), LIGHTS provides direct entrepreneurial assistance to start-ups and helps support post-recovery-to-employment opportunities. The Hub is proud to be one of a handful of LIGHTS network partners located in our region.
The Hub’s renovation project continues on schedule. Funded by the EDA (Economic Development Administration) Build to Scale Program, the multi-million dollar renovation will transform the former clothing factory into an anchor institution for the new arts, cultural, and innovation district in Portsmouth.
Our staff cannot wait to open our doors next Spring! Until then, follow the Hub on Facebook, Instagram, and sign up for our newsletter for more updates.
