Hub hosts Ignite Portsmouth Speaker Series and Happy Hour

Kelly O’Bryant, Matt Setters, Matt Seifert, and Hub Program Director David Kilroy address participants at the Ignite Portsmouth Speaker Series and Happy Hour.

On Thursday, December 9th the Shawnee State University Kricker Innovation Hub hosted its last entrepreneurial journey speaker series of the semester at the Glockner Museum on Market Street Square.

The Ignite Portsmouth Speaker Series and Happy Hour featured three local experts discussing their own entrepreneurial journeys and offering advice and resources to those in attendance. The event featured Kelly O’Bryant (Women’s Business Center of Central Appalachia), Matt Seifert (Attorney at law), and Matt Setters (Setters CPA).

The event was an extension of the Ignite Portsmouth Bootcamp and Pitch Competition. In 2021, ten local residents went through an intensive five-week entrepreneurship bootcamp with the Hub and then competed in a business pitch competition for a grand prize of $8,500. Since the completion of the program, many Ignite Portsmouth alumni have been in constant contact with the Hub and the brand new Women’s Business Center of Central Appalachia for further support and business resources.

The Hub will host its second annual Ignite Portsmouth Bootcamp this coming May. If you or someone you know has a great business idea, email us at ssuinnovation@shawnee.edu to pre-register!
