The Appalachian Conference on Social Enterprise (ACOSE) is a dynamic event designed to bring together changemakers, entrepreneurs, and community leaders who are passionate about social enterprise in the Appalachian region. Hosted by Shawnee State University’s Kricker Innovation Hub, the conference is thoughtfully divided into three distinct components, allowing attendees to tailor their experience based on their interests and availability.
🧭 1. The Learning Journey
Date: November 19, 3:00 PM
This immersive experience offers guided tours and presentations at various local sites in Portsmouth, Ohio. Participants will explore how social enterprises are making a tangible impact in the community. Stops include public art installations, community kitchens, and revitalized spaces, each highlighting innovative approaches to social change. It’s a hands-on way to learn from real-world examples and meet the people behind the projects.
🍽️ 2. Networking Dinner
Date: November 19, 5:00 PM
Held at Oddfellows, this optional dinner provides a relaxed setting for attendees to connect, share ideas, and build relationships. Whether you're a seasoned social entrepreneur or just starting out, this is a great opportunity to meet others who are passionate about making a difference.
Menu:
SALAD: Mixed greens with pears, feta cheese, toasted almonds, dried cranberries, and maple vinaigrette (GF)
ENTREE: Chicken and Waffles; smoked boneless/skinless chicken thigh in a creamy garlic and wild mushroom sauce served over a potato waffle
ENTREE (VEG + GF OPTION): Butternut Squash Risotto with a garlic wild mushroom sauce
