Kricker Innovation Hub Welcomes New Team Member

Gina Collinsworth is joining the team at the Kricker Innovation Hub at Shawnee State University as Director of Entrepreneurship Programming and Community Engagement. A lifelong resident of the region and proud Shawnee State University alumna, Gina also holds a master’s degree in English – Professional Writing from the University of Cincinnati. She is a seasoned public relations and development professional with a deep commitment to fostering innovation and economic growth in Southern Ohio. 

Throughout her career, Gina has held leadership and stakeholder engagement roles supporting regional businesses, nonprofit organizations, and economic development initiatives, including work with the Ohio Valley Regional Development Commission. Her professional background spans public relations, program facilitation, and community collaboration, with a focus on translating complex ideas into compelling narratives to drive participation and impact. 

“Coming from a creative background and a family of small business owners showed me that art, entrepreneurship, and community are deeply connected,” said Collinsworth. “I’ve seen firsthand how creative thinking and practical business skills can open doors—for individuals and for entire regions.” 

Gina’s entrepreneurial background includes her work as co-owner of Jam 2 Music with her husband, Larry, where she helped build a successful creative company focused on music publishing and licensing for films, video games, and television. Through Jam 2 Music, she led partnership development, branding, and distribution for creative products. 

At the Kricker Innovation Hub, Gina will leverage her entrepreneurial experience, communications expertise, and technology skills to advance the Hub’s mission, strengthen partnerships, and support innovators, creatives, and small businesses as they move ideas from concept to reality. 

“Starting something new takes courage, but creativity combined with hard work and resilience creates opportunity,” Collinsworth said. “I’m honored to be part of a team that supports innovators and businesses shaping the future of our region. It’s an exciting moment for Shawnee State University and Southern Ohio.”
